Mongolian yurt also known as Ger is a traditional portable dwelling providing comfort and protection from various climates. Typically, one of the necessary components of a yurt in warm regions is mosquito netting. This thing does not only promise bugs free environment but improves favorable living condition. In order for the mosquito net to last long and be efficient, it should be properly taken care of and maintained. The following are the steps one can use to wash his or her mongolian yurt mosquito net.
1. Preparation
Before you begin washing, make sure you have the following items:
Mild detergent or delicate fabric cleaner
Large basin or tub
Soft brush or sponge
Clean dry towels
Clothesline or open space for air drying
2. Remove the Mosquito Net
The mosquitos’ net has to be removed carefully from the ger that it is attached onto. If it was hooked, tied or Velcroed gently undo these fastenings so as not cause any harm on your moth screen. Lay the net flat on a clean surface.
3. Pre-Treatment
Check if there are any stain marks on your net before starting cleaning process of it. Remove all stains by spraying them with small amounts of mild detergent you have applied using microbes infected brushes and sponges that has been rubbed against them slowly using soft hands; after that allow pre treatment for between 15-20 minutes.
4. Washing
Take lukewarm water into a large basin or tub; then add some gentle fabric cleaner/ mild detergent into it in small quantity rates before immersing mosquito nets inside soap suds filled basins and gently shake the water to cleanse out dirt and grime.
Never use hot water as it may spoil the fabric, and also no harsh chemicals or bleaching agents since they can destroy the net and interfere with its usage habits.
5. Hand Washing
You should clean your mosquitos’ net gently using a soft brush or sponge without causing too much pressure especially on those parts heavily soiled. Avoid intense rubbing as this act damages the fibers on these screens.
6. Rinsing
After completing the washing process, pour out all soapy water and then add some more lukewarm water inside basin for rinsing mosquito nets through. In order to remove all traces of soap, rinse out mosquito nets properly and change several times.
7. Drying
Remove excess water from mosquitos’ net gently by squeezing it softly as you avoid twisting or wringing thus distorting its shape; lay it flat on clean towels to dry using an absorbent towel which will remove most moisture after rolling up. Open air-dry a net that has been unrolled in well ventilated area flatly to prevent direct sunlight from fading away or damaging fabric.
Hang your mosquito net if there is chance below a shadowed place on a line near drying house till it dries completely before hanging it back in yurt once again.
8. Reattachment
Attach back the dried mosquito net into ger ensuring that all fasteners are securely fixed while correct alignment of your nets provides maximum safety against insects.
